To Be Blue

The question at hand is, why is this novel titled Bluebeard? My answer, is mainly because of what he is hiding in his potato barn. I already finished the novel so I am not going to ruin the ending for the rest of you. But what Rabo keeps in his barn is something very personal to him, something which defines him as an artist and as an individual. Bluebeard kept something "secret" behind his locked door, which is very different yet similar in ways to what Rabo is hiding. Bluebeard would kill any of his wifes which went into the room and keep them as a collection. The major difference is that nobody has yet seen what is behind Rabo's locked door, and he doesn't murder anyone. But the similarity is that what is behind the door defines him as a person. Bluebeard was a cold blooded murderer. So what is Rabo? finish the book and find out.

  1. I think its also that rabo hides himself, he keep critisizing himself and he hides behind this mask. hes scarred of what everyone might think of him if he actually showed what he can trully do, hes scarred of critisism and i think that just as bluebeard literally hides skeletons in his closet, something that hes ashamed him, something that would changed people opinions about him Rabo also hides something in the barn that might change peoples opinion of him as well. Also rabo writes alot about abstract art which is also hidden and unknown.
