Bar- Nadav poetry reading
So on thursday i attended the poetry reading by Hadara Bar- Nadav. I enjoyed the reading very much. she read some of her ekphrastic poems like "Birds of Prey", "Night with Wings", "Musical Accompaniment For Edward Hopper". after reading Birds of Prey she spoke alittle about what the poem meant. she explained that its suppose to be a love poem inspired by her and her husband. she also spoke about her poem Substitutions. This poem is more literal than most of her poems when it comes to the art that it was inspired by. She said the reason she chose to write it was because it amazed her how a woman could just offer her breast to a lamb and not feel any shame or embarrassment, how the woman in the photograph does this as if its just a normal thing. She also mentions her poems inspired by a painting called "No Lovers" i forgot who the artist was. And lets not forget her poem "The Last Gesture" inspired by Salvador Dali's "The Hand." Bar- Nadav also spoke about her personal life. like i said before i really liked the poems she read on thursday i think they're really good. as she read she gave good imagery. i was just listening and picturing what she was saying. She has a good sense of humor too.
