My Thoughts of Bluebeard

In my opinion, "Bluebeard" means that the story was friction. The name of the word, bluebeard, spoke for itself. There was no such thing as having a beard with a blue color. Instead, a person who had that kind of beard was pretending to look as though he had a blue beard. 

My last reason why "Bluebeard" was friction was because of what Kurt Vonnegut thought of in his book. As the author of "Bluebeard", he thought of creating some of his own characthers to fit into real-life issues that existed before and after the first World War. In other words, Kurt Vonnegut created in his own characthers as he mentioned World War Two, the Great Depression and some famous people. For instance, when Kurt Vonnegut mentioned about his main characther, "Rabo", fighting in World War Two, the author created another story where Rabo had lost his eye and he experienced some of the violence he had seened, but none of that was true since there was no such name as Rabo and the experiences he went throught as the whole story was a made up biography.

I believed Dan Gregory did not want Rabo and Marilee to go to the MOMA (Muesum of Modern Art) because Dan felt that his pictures would not look any valuable than the ones that were in the muesum. Dan Gregory was an artist, too, that felt he had to compete  
with other artists to gain more fame or recognition for his artwork. Overall, I think Dan Gregory thought about himself as a competitor to MOMA.

Rabo and Marilee were fascinated of the going MOMA (Muesum of Modern Art), but they must have went there because of the problems they had with Dan Gregory after he treated them with little respect. Regardless, of how Dan seen Rabo and Marilee followed Dan's orders, Dan did not try to understand how hard Rabo and Marilee worked to earn Dan's respect. In my opinion, there was only one thing Dan wanted and he was not going listen to anyone else choices, but his own. After following Dan's orders more than once, Dan was still nasty and disrepectful to Rabo and Marilee while they were living with him. 

From reading Bluebeard, I believed there were more than one moral of the story. Every characther other than Rabo went throught a situation that was not good. Those characthers would teach us something me should learn from their mistakes. For instance, in one of the chapters of Bluebeard, Marilee thought that getting love meant that she had to have a sexual relationship with anyone to feel better about herself. However, being loved does not meant that Marilee had to be taken advantage from the men she was with. 

To me, MOMA (Muesum of Modern Art) was a beautiful muesum. It was my first time going there. At first, I thought anytime I went there, I had pay to get a ticket so I can see the artwork, but going on a Friday, I want there for free without paying anything 
which was part of an event called "Free Friday". 

One of favorite artwork at MOMA (Muesum of Modern Art) was a drawing that was made by an artist name "Theodore Roszak". The name of the picture was called "Light and Substance". I think of the drawing as my favorite artwork because of its color and image. It looked real with black and white colors without any other colors which its easy to imagine. Plus, the picture was also the assignment I wrote in my Ekphrastic Collection. 

There were a lot of moments when some of the characthers in Bluebeard were too curious to find out what could happen when they made decisions. One of them was when Rabo thought that he was going to be an experienced artist from Dan Gregory. However, Rabo did not know that Dan was a jerk after he burned the picture that took six months for Rabo to paint. Not only that, Dan doubted that Rabo did have what it took to become an artist as Dan did not give Rabo any encouragement or hope. That was a surprise, to me. I thought that people who were professionals (like Dan Gregory) were to inspire young people to become what they want to be, but what Dan Gregory did would discourage anyone. Rabo was maybe afraid of knowing the truth about not having the potential of being an artist, but he could have realized that for himself without feeling rejected...
