What is abstract?

Abstract art can be anything you think is art. But with an unclear messege or view or purpose for the art. Or maybe it can have a clear message. Everyone is different so different people might look at an abstract painting in different ways. One who might see a face in an abstract painting might see something else. I think thats the best thing about abstract, its what you- the viewer makes of it. One of my favorite artists is Pablo Picasso. Picasso had many different styles of painting but his work most seen as abstract art was "cubism." I love abstract art, as well as other styles of paintings. I think that my favorite painting from Picasso would have to be "the old guitarist" from his "blue period" where he was influenced by negative things in his life at the time. There's actually a picture of it in the QCC gym. Another favorite painting of mine is la grande Jatte, by George Seurat. I like it because it pleasant to look at. Its pretty detailed for the type of work it is. If you haven't seen this painting before i recommend you do. Its just a nice piece of art.
