Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 102 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (and to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum. You are required to write AT LEAST two paragraphs a week (in one or more postings).

Abstract Art
I personally don't understand abstract art but I guess neither do a lot of other people. Although it's up to interpretation it sometimes is still difficult to understand even though sometimes there is nothing to understand (if that makes sense). In class, for the last two or three class, we have been focusing in on abstract paintings and it has has been interesting but enjoyable at the same time. Hearing everybodies responses to different works of art helps me expand my thinking, in that I nnow try to think outside of the box instead of just looking at a picture or painting and expressing what I see right in front of me.
