downing in milk

Today in class, we read bar-nadav poems that described very vividly different pieces of art. I dont have the sheet of poems in front of me at this moment but the one my group did was about a fairy in milk. My favorite stanza of the poem was about how the women with pointy hats were sitting at some club. They were sitting around while this fairy was suffering and not caring. My group liked to interpret it as the fairy being a fly. Even so I think that makes the stanza even more interesting. You could almost imagine how the fly feels drowning in the pool of milk, only a chandelier to look up on, while these women were just sitting around crackling, not caring for the poor little fly. Its sometimes how we all feel at times, drowning in the sea of life, while everyone just watches you drowning and noone helps. But the fairy gets out at the end.... Anyway when we took a look at the picture there were a bunch of women sitting around with black hats. I'm wondering what the author was thinking to illustrate this whole scene with a drowning fairy in a pool of milk. Maybe she was just thinking of how these women were snobby and wouldnt care for a fantasy world with fairies and far less for a fairy drowning in milk.
