Raisin in the Sun (finishing up)

Thanks for the great conversation about the film today. Here are some other questions I had about the film:

  • What makes this cinematic (as opposed to a filmed play)?
  • What does the house signify in this play? What is the American Dream and how would you relate it to the film? How is this story relevant in the current economic crisis?
  • Why does Ruth want to move so badly?
  • What does "you people" (as said by Linder) mean? Or "our Negro families"?
  • Are there really "takers" and "tooken" as Walter Lee says? Explain.
